Education and Training

What is the Education and Training Program?

The Education and Training Program of the Office of the Public Advocate provides information sessions for all audiences and training for professional groups. Each year we provide over 200 community education sessions.

Information sessions

We offer information sessions on a range of topics such as enduring powers of attorney, guardianship and administration and medical consent. Sessions are delivered by experienced Office staff. We also provide printed support materials. The sessions run for one to two hours. We require a minimum of 20 people and we are happy to present to large audiences. To book a session we need at least one month’s notice.

Professional development training sessions

Training sessions are half day or whole day workshops for professional staff. We have several training packages available and can also create or tailor sessions to suit your needs. All of the sessions are delivered by staff of the Office with relevant experience and training qualifications. Up to 25 participants can attend a training session. Our fees are comparable to industry standards.
