You will be able to spread the messages from this training to help protect older people from harm.
This two hour workshop will train you to engage with seniors about what they need to consider before appointing a power of attorney.
Entry is free but bookings are essential.
This workshop is open to both professionals and general community members and volunteers who engage with older people.
This workshop is part of a collaborative project between the Commissioner for Senior Victorians, Mr Gerard Mansour, and the Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) and funded by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services aimed at reducing the risk of elder abuse.
In 2017, the project developed the booklet Your voice – Trust your choice as a companion to Take Control. The booklet provides tips for seniors making enduring powers of attorney with a particular aim of reducing the risk of elder abuse.
This year, the project is running eight free, two hour workshops in Melbourne and four in regional Victoria. The workshops will:
- explore the key messages in the Your voice - Trust your choice booklet
- explore methods for engaging with seniors on this topic
- provide training resources.
