Launch of 'HealthCARE Conversations' video

The Public Advocate, Dr Colleen Pearce, will launch OPA's new 'HealthCARE Conversations' video online on Wednesday 1 December at 11am.

This 13-minute video is a new resource for people working in the health sector or studying medicine, nursing, allied health or other health-related field to be empowered to gain skills and knowledge to be able to approach and interact to achieve positive health outcomes for patients with disability.

It includes:

  • practical tips for effective communication and engagement with people with disability
  • the voices of people with lived experience of disability 
  • tips from Dr Jane Tracy from the Centre for Developmental Disability Health Victoria at Monash Health.

The professionally-produced video, made in the style of the ABC's 'You Can't Ask That' program, is part of OPA's Healthy Discussions Project, aimed at improving communication between health practitioners and people with disability.
