Publications for guardians and carers updated
Two of the Office of Public Advocate's most useful publications for guardians and carers, Good guardianship and Securing their future, have been updated to take into account significant changes due to the implementation of the Medical Treatment Planning and Decisions Act 2016.
Good guardianship is a guide for guardians appointed under the Guardianship and Administration Act. The guide outlines the authority and responsibilities of a guardian. It provides information to help guardians comply with the terms of the guardianship order issued by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
Securing their future is a resource for parents, relatives and significant others caring for Victorians with a decision-making disability, jointly published by Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) and State Trustees.
The publication sets out in simple terms, how those caring for Victorians with a decision-making disability can protect and safeguard their futures.
Both publications are currently available as a downloadable PDF.
