Bendigo's Bignold Park closed voluntarily: Government

Concerns about financial viability and risks to people led to the sudden closure of a Bendigo supported residential service, the state government has confirmed.

Last week Bignold Park residents were given notice to vacate the supported residential service within 31 days.

A Department of Families, Fairness and Housing spokesperson said its Human Service Regulator had been in regular contact with the service about its ability to meet its legislated obligations.

Victoria's public advocate has raised "serious concerns" about the wellbeing of residents in such facilities, saying they are "ill-equipped" to care for the complex needs of their residents.
