Abuse, neglect and assault reports in Victoria's mental health, residential and disability services have dived dramatically due to COVID-19 disrupting in-person checks.

Community visitors from the Office of the Public Advocate reported 458 incidents in the three sectors during the 2020/21 financial year, down from 669 in the previous 12 months.

It represents a 31.5 per cent fall year-on-year, and reports were lower across mental health (209 down to 156), residential (242 to 143) and disability (218 to 159) settings.
